THE BIO

Simão Matos is passioned professional in Fine Arts and Arts Education. Born in Portugal in 1973, he has dedicated his career to the pursuit of knowledge and excellence in the field of arts and education. He moved to Spain in 2012 and currently works at the European School of Alicante, where he is seconded by the Portuguese Ministry of Education.

Simão began his journey in the arts by receiving his Fine Arts degree from the prestigious Arts and Design Institute of Caldas da Rainha, Portugal. He then went on to specialize in arts education at the Education Institute of Leiria, also in Portugal. To expand his horizons, he completed a Postgraduate Degree in Expressive Therapies and Transdisciplinary Art Therapy at the European University of Valencia, Spain, in 2015.

In 2018, Simão achieved his Master's Degree in Creative Therapies and Art Therapy at the University of Murcia, Spain, where later has inspired and motivated other students several times, as an invited teacher sharing his experience in developing workshop.

In 2019, Simão completed his Master's Degree in School Administration and Management at "Universidade Aberta," Lisbon, Portugal. His dissertation, titled "Being through the Arts," is a testament to his innovative thinking and his commitment to excellence. The dissertation explored how Art Education can enhance school culture and organizational climate. The rectorate recognized his work as excellent and awarded him the letter of academic merit.
